Sad times

Bit of a sombre post this morning.
Yesterday my dog, Ash got put down. Words can't describe how I'm feeling. My mum and I cried all day yesterday. I think it was the saddest day of my life.
When I heard it in the past and people had spoken about getting a pet put down, and they said that "now they are no longer in pain," it sounded so cliched. But it really is true. Ash had pulmonary fibrosis, and fluid was building up on his lungs, so found it hard to breathe.

For the past 15 years, he has been there every morning when I wake up, trotting about the house like he owns it. He really was the master of the house. He had a whole "treat 'em mean keep 'em keen" aura about him. He liked to keep us on our toes. He was so hilarious as well, he had like such an individual personality.

I honestly think I will think about him everyday, and have even thought about getting a little tattoo of his name somewhere on me. Just teeny tiny writing hidden away somewhere but so I really will never forget him.

  1. Oh no, I'm so sorry :(

Losing a pet is a truly awful experience. I don't know what to say that will help but it's important to cherish all the good memories that the little fella gave you and be happy that you gave him a long and happy life.

  2. Aww, I'm so sorry to hear this. I think it is so sad when a pet dies, I still cry remembering my cat dying when I was 9 and I am almost 23 now. I sometimes cry thinking about when my cat I have now will die...I'm a bit sad like that.

    :(

  4. I am so deeply sorry on the loss of your beloved Ash. I've been there a few times with pets I grew up with and adored. I often think about them and miss them very much. Its very strange in the beginning because you forget they passed on and expect to see them or hear them around the house. It takes time, hang in there. You're lucky you had a pet that became such a strong part of your family. xxN
